FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Our building and facilities continue to change as construction projects continue, start, and end. Different projects are all in different states of completion, but all progress is celebrated.

The energy around the building has increased substantially as our fall sports have begun. It is great to see so much Warrior Pride embodied in our student-athletes and our coaching staff.

Please be certain to make plans to participate in the critical back-to-school events for you and your child(ren). These lead to the great beginning for a successful school year.

We look forward to seeing you here soon. GO WARRIORS!

Ron Monson
Principal ~ Henry Sibley High School

SIBLEY START UP DAY! Wednesday, August 28
Sibley Start Up Day is an open-house style event where your child will receive their class schedule, locker assignment, and have the opportunity to finalize important items necessary for the school year ahead, including food services, transportation and more. This event runs from 10:00 am until 6 pm; please come when it works best for your schedule. The following includes more detailed information about the event and how your child can best prepare for a smooth start to the school year.

BEFORE START UP DAY--Register for FEEPAY
FeePay™ is:
>> A simple and secure way to pay with credit card or electronic transfer from your bank account
>> Convenient—no more having to send cash or checks to school or take time out of your workday to come to school to register for activities or athletics.
>> Safe and secure - FeePayTM is PCI-compliant – the highest industry standard for data and transaction security – ensuring your transaction and financial data stay safe and secure.

Paying and registering online is easy
Step 1: Click on the link to FeePayTM. (www.sibley.isd197.org)
Step 2: Set up your FeePayTM account.  (Be sure to use your student’s ID number.)
Step 3: Choose your activities or other items, complete and sign electronically any required forms.
Step 4: Go to your shopping cart and complete your purchase. You will receive an immediate confirmation by email that your payment has been received. You can also print out a receipt.

Please note, any task listed below that includes “FeePay” can be done at home on your personal computer or device. Computers will not be available for registering during Sibley Start-Up Day.

The following stations will be set up on the 1st floor at Henry Sibley during Start Up Day. Please use the West entrance of the building near the District Office.

LOCKERS & LOCKS--Attendance Office
With the new construction the use of our school academic lockers at Henry Sibley will be changing. Only 9th grade students will be automatically assigned a locker. These will be located on the first floor.

All remaining grade levels will need to team up with a partner to share a locker.  Lockers for 10th, 11th and 12th graders will be assigned through the 2nd and 3rd floors on a first come first served basis. Only sign up if you plan to use your locker. Once you choose a locker partner and are assigned a locker, you will NOT be able to make changes throughout the school year. ONE partner needs to complete the following form to request a locker for you and a partner  https://forms.gle/vCAM5zXa77SqhPKR6

Official locker assignments will be posted on your schedule available on Sibley Start Up, if request is completed by Thursday, August 22. Any requests received after that date will not be printed out on the schedule, you will have to request your locker number in the Attendance Office with schedule in hand.

Please take into consideration that both of you will have to share a lock to secure your locker and its combination. Padlocks can be purchased online through FeePay or in the Attendance Office. The cost is $5.00. Students may also choose to purchase their own.

PARKING PASSES--Attendance Office
Students who use the school parking lot need to purchase a parking pass.  All passes must be purchased through FeePay. A very limited number of passes will be sold this year due to construction. Plan ahead and purchase your pass right away.

Parking Pass costs:    1 semester = $110.00 Full Year = $200.00

Daily passes are $2.00/day and may be purchased in the Attendance Office each day before school. Due to construction, there will ONLY be 20 daily parking spots available for students.

EMPOWERED – New Students and 9th Grade Students
If your child attended middle school in District 197 they used an iPad. At the high school, however, students use a laptop to access course content, complete homework, collaborate and communicate with classmates, conduct research and more.

This does not mean that students at Henry Sibley use a computer for the entire period of each class throughout their day. Our teachers continue to use traditional instructional methods and ask students to complete assignments or projects using tools other than a computer.

All students at Henry Sibley have two options:

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) – Students/families bring a device to school that they currently own or purchase that meets the minimum requirements to use in class each day. http://www.isd197.org/academics/empowered/byod

Use a school-owned device – Students will be provided with a computing device in the fall to use throughout their four years of high school. The device will be assigned specifically to the student who will need to bring it to school each day. School devices are a mix of new, currently owned and recertified laptops, Chromebooks and Macbooks.

If you have not completed a student device form for 2019-20, please fill one out at:

Please contact the Transportation Office with any questions, 651-403-8320.

All open enrolled non-resident students must complete the Non-Resident Registration Form to register for transportation and agree to the criteria on the form.

Register for district bus service at www.isd197.org/services/transportation/forms.

CAPS--Center for Advanced Professional Studies
We still have unique opportunities for students to enroll in our TriDistrict CAPS Business & Entrepreneurship and Transportation Programs. Recall that these courses are a collaboration between Henry Sibley, Simley, and South St. Paul High Schools. In these courses, students explore careers and learning opportunities in their chosen field of business/entrepreneurship or transportation and related trades & technologies, learn transferable professional skills, and earn an English Language Arts credit. Students in these programs are immersed in the professional environment at either Evolve Workplace or North American trailer and are taught by a collaborative team of teachers from TriDistrict high schools. In the fall, the course is complemented by field trips, guest speakers, and project work done in collaboration with our business partners.  Students then leverage this fall experience into a spring internship, deepening their learning. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Ben Kusch, TriDistrict CAPS Program Coordinator at bkusch@tridistrictce.org. You can also go to www.careercollegeready.org for more information.

BECOME A MENTOR! Calling the Friends, Parents, and Community Members of Henry Sibley.
Warrior Seminar, Henry Sibley's 9th Grade Seminar course, begins its third year this fall, and with it, our Warrior Seminar Mentor Program. We are once again looking for mentors to meet 4 times across the year and to share their career experience and expertise with Henry Sibley 9th graders. Mentors meet with groups of 4-5 students to learn more about the mentors' jobs/careers and their pathway to their current job. Mentors also share their knowledge and expertise as it pertains to applying for jobs, pursuing a career area of interest, and how to be successful in a job/career. Please join us to help our students learn more about the wide array of career opportunities that exist in our community and region. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Ben Kusch, Warrior Seminar Mentor Program Coordinator at bkusch@tridistrictce.org.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Student supply lists for class are dependent on their individual schedule and teacher. If necessary, teachers will email supply lists to families before the start of school; otherwise, students will be given a supply list during the first week of classes. Students should at least plan to arrive with pens, pencils, notebooks, binders, and folders for each class.
