Photo Charles SkempWelcome to my webpage. I teach world history, political science, and Advanced Placement US History at Henry Sibley High School. I have been working in the district since 2004, but have been working in education since 1989 as a social studies teacher, Spanish teacher, theater director, dean of students, curriculum coordinator, and department of education curriculum specialist. I have a doctorate in education, as well as an M.A. in Latin American history and a B.A. in European humanities. My two oldest sons, Ben and Sam, graduated from Sibley, then went on to the University of St. Thomas. They are now working in engineering and in business. My daughter, Laura, attends Henry Sibley. She is very active in Sibley sports and is on a competitive dance team outside of school. My wife, Mary Jo, also teaches in the district at Mendota Elementary and is a graduate of Sibley. I love to travel and have worked and studied in Spain, Peru, Guatemala, Quebec, and Mexico. My favorite pastimes are reading, watching movies, and being active outside.
